School Health and Wellness TeacherOverview Dwight-Englewood School,
the largest independent school in Bergen County, NJ, and a growing,
vibrant, and diverse learning community in the New York City metro
area, is seeking to fill a Middle/Upper School Health and Wellness
teaching position. The teacher will work closely with colleagues
across divisions to provide age-appropriate instruction in health,
wellness, and physical education. The department philosophy
encompasses the common goal for teaching students to live healthy
and active lifestyles within a positive and diverse learning
environment. Individuals who apply should be extremely responsible
and highly motivated to teach and to make interdisciplinary
connections across the various divisions of the school. In addition
to teaching, our faculty members are involved in a variety of
activities critical to the education of students at
Dwight-Englewood School. Essential Responsibilities Actively
support the Mission of the School and put that vision into daily
practice. Teach a full load of Middle School and Upper School
health and wellness classes, including health education, physical
education, and fitness-related courses. Serve as an advisor to a
small group (usually around ten) of Middle School students. Coach
two seasons of athletics in the school’s athletic program (which
may require an earlier August 2026 start). Attend weekly
departmental and/or divisional meetings after school. Participate
in overnight field trips and day trips as a chaperone. Provide
supervision responsibilities, including supervision of girl’s
locker rooms. Perform other duties as assigned, such as lunch
supervision or coverage as needed. Desired Qualities The ideal

interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students,

communication skills. Experience creating a positive, inclusive,
and motivating wellness environment. Ability to make
interdisciplinary connections across academic, advisory, and
athletic programs. A growth mindset and commitment to continuous
professional learning. Certifications in areas such as health
education, yoga, meditation, strength and conditioning, spinning,
or coaching multiple sports are highly desirable. Position
Requirements A Bachelor’s Degree in health, physical education, or
a related field (Master’s Degree preferred). Experience teaching
health and physical education at the middle and/or upper school
level. Personal and professional alignment with the school’s
mission, vision, and values. Knowledge of and commitment to
diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all aspects
of work with students, families, and colleagues. Excellent oral,
written, and electronic communication skills. Experience coaching
and/or willingness to coach multiple sports. Terms of Employment
This is a 10-month, full-time teaching position. Teachers commit to
eight-hour workdays as well as attendance at faculty meetings and
other school-wide meetings and events. Professional days are
considered workdays and participation in planned activities is
mandatory. Salaries are based on years of experience and education
level. The salary range for this position is 65K to 100K. If you
