Job Description:
About us Job Purpose A Senior Engineering Manager will have
leadership duties for at most 4 squads, and may have engineering
managers or lead engineers among their reports running the squads
they are responsible for. They will likely be owners of engineering
direction for 1 or 2 products in their product line. They will have
direct reporting responsibilities for members of the squad that are
not reporting to engineering managers, possibly including engineers
as senior or more senior than they are (L5 or L6). Key
Accountabilities --- Responsible for team output, in terms of code
and architectural quality. Ensures consistent technical direction,
even if not directly involved (delegating where appropriate)
--- Works with their triad (Product and Design leadership) to
ensure that team's product development evolves in a healthy
direction without sacrificing tech roadmap.
--- Responsible for team work balance - following the org defined
balance of product work, tech roadmap work, and individual
development work.
--- Responsible for defining work process - refining agile process
to work best for the team.
--- Responsible for team output, in terms of work objectives.
--- Escalates issues that the team encounters if unable to resolve
themselves, either to their manager, or others outside their team
who can help.
--- Works actively to improve team performance - chasing after the
goal of a high performance team
--- Plans team resource changes - planning for skill gaps based on
the changing dynamic of the team's work areas.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required --- Responsible for
team output, in terms of career plans and quarterly/annual
goals.
--- Ensures that team is a safe space for the free exchange of
ideas and open and honest conversations, especially for
uncomfortable topics.
--- Regularly checks in on goals and Individual Development Plans
(IDPs) ensuring their direct reports are actively focusing on these
secondary objectives.
--- Works actively to improve team relationships when there are
challenges
--- Ensures that team meetings have representation from all team
perspectives, encouraging active voices to leave room for other
team members, and amplifying the voices of those less likely to
speak up.
--- Participates in hiring initiatives, ensuring changes to hiring
practices and process work for their team.
--- Responsible for team output, in terms of documentation and
presentations.
--- Works with their triad (Product and Design leadership) to
ensure that team's product development is broadcast to their
business stakeholders effectively.
--- Represents team's work functionally in meetings about work
management.

organizational project management, planning with other leaders when
changes need to be made. Qualifications --- Bachelors Degree or
equivalent experience
--- Typically 7 or more years of experience in position. Management
is typically the next higher level. May require Bachelor's or
Master's degree.
--- In depth experience in a highly technical field or in multiple,
related fields. Has the ability to initiate and complete projects
with minimal guidance from others. Has thorough knowledge of all
procedures, transactions and practices in one process. Has a
working knowledge of the remaining area's processes. Quickly grasps
complex issues and can effectively integrate, compile and analyze
complex information and data. Has a basic understanding of relevant
industry issues.

determining assignment objectives.
--- Frequently explains information to others who use it to advise
and negotiate at higher organizational levels. Maintains occasional
external contact with counterparts within and external to the
industry .Positively influences others and gains their cooperation.
