ResponsibilitiesThe Principal Data Architect is a key member of the Enterprise Applications (EA) Engineering & Architecture leadership group and is responsible for the creation and implementation of the EA data and analytic vision, strategy, and roadmap by collaboratively working with the EA and other NBCU leadership. This position requires a passionate data and analytics expert - if you're someone with expertise in data structuring, aggregation, analysis, and visualization and can maintain the fine balance of business acumen and deep technical knowledge, you've come to the right place. Join us.Own the Enterprise Applications (EA) data and analytic vision, strategy, and roadmapOwn the data and analytic architectures, platforms, integrations, and solutions while leveraging AWS and other public cloud solutionsCreate and communicate the data and analytic technology and architectural standards, guidelines, principles, frameworks, and reference modelsIdentify, document, and visualize short-term and long-term opportunities for the data and analytic strategy by analyzing business and technical stakeholder needsActive member of the EA Engineering & Architecture leadership team and play a key role in shaping a data-driven cultureDesign, build, and scale data pipelines across a variety of source systems and streams (internal, third-party, as well as cloud-based), distributed/elastic environments, and downstream applications and/or self-service solutionsDevelop solutions combining data blending, profiling, mining, statistical analysis, and machine learning, to better define and curate models, test hypothesis, and deliver key insightsManage the prioritization and execution of enhancements and projects, including communication to key stakeholders and coordination of work effort within internal IT teams, and the business community Build visualizations that tell a story, making the best use of the canvas and leverage intuitive layoutsGather analytical requirements from stakeholders and convert them into technical solutions that give users access to the data in a format that highlights actionable insightsBuild and manage relationships with supporting IT teams in order to effectively deliver work products to productionQualifcaitons: 8+ years of progressive data application development experience, working in large scale/distributed SQL, NoSQL, and/or Hadoop environments5+ years of experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)1+ years of experience modeling and implementing ETL/ELT on columnar MPP database technologies such as Snowflake, RedShift, and/or BigQueryExperience implementing scalable, distributed, and highly available systems using cloud technologies, such as Amazon Web ServicesBachelor's degree plus relevant analytics experienceDesired Characteristics: Analytical - You have experience in delivering self-service analytics solutions that promote data discovery Working knowledge of ETL processes, Data Warehouse Schemas, Data Lakes, & Cloud Hosted BI systemsExperience in a business-facing analytical role and proven track record of related success Experience with Snowflake, Amazon Web Services, and/or Microsoft Azure a plusCommunicator - You have excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate ideas effectively across all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technicalAction-oriented - You're constantly figuring out new problems and are regularly showing results with a positive attitude, always displaying ethical behavior, integrity, and building trustStrong understanding of Agile principles and best practicesYou've dealt with ambiguity and can make quality decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentPrior experience with SAP systems is a plusAbout UsNBCUniversal owns and operates over 20 different businesses across 30 countries including a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, world-renowned theme parks and a premium ad-supported streaming service.Here you can be your authentic self.
